Make-up Artist Interviews
Skin Care Tips And Beauty Advice By Joey Garibay Makeup Artist
Q: Tell a little about yourself personally and if you attended school or you are a self taught makeup artist?
A: I’m a young man with a passion for the art of beauty. I come from a small, over populated city in a corner of Texas. Although, I do have some formal “training” I consider myself to be self taught for the most part.
I helped design the makeup curriculum for the beauty college, I attended. Later on I singed up for an Independent Cosmetics Art program that came to the USA from Israel. This is where I acquired trade secrets, techniques and the use of colors.

Beauty Tips By British Makeup Artist Anika Chauhan
Q: Tell a little about yourself personally and if you attended school or you are a self taught makeup artist?
A: I am a professional make-up and hair stylist. I am at my happiest when I can be creative, I am also a huge perfectionist. I attended Greasepaint College in 2003 and have been working in the industry ever since.
Q: What do you find to be the most common mistakes women make with makeup? What’s the worst thing a woman can do to her skin?
A: Many women like to look tanned these days but they are using are darker foundation with an orange tone. Instead they should be using a foundation that matches their skin tone, then apply a warm bronzer.
The worst thing a woman can do to her skin is dehydrate it by not drinking enough water.

Q: Did you always wanted to be an artist, or did you stumble upon your talent by chance? Who or what inspired you to become a makeup artist?

Tennessee Makeup Artist Interview: Makeup By Trecie
Q: Tell a little about yourself personally and if you attended school or you are a self taught makeup artist?
A: I am a mother of one living in Tennessee who has a passion for makeup artistry. I have not attended school and am completely self taught.
Q: Do you think going to school for make-up artistry is important to excel in the business later on?
A: Depending on the level that you want to take it to, yes. If you want to teach, I think school would be beneficial. But the thing about makeup is everyone has a different technique that works for them. To be successful or a well known makeup artist does not matter on what certificate or diploma you have, but rather your skill and your craft.

Interview With British Face And Body Painter Vince Loudon

Makeup Artist Interview With Elaine O Callaghan Of Cork, Ireland
Q: Tell a little about yourself personally and if you attended school or you are a self taught makeup artist?
A: I suppose a bit of both, I have always had an intense interest in make up & its transfomative effects so I took an introductory course to make up artistry.
After this I assisted, read up on everything I could & worked with whatever photographer would have me in order to hone my skills.
The thing with make up (like many professions I suppose) is that you will never be finished learning. There’s always a new technique to pick up & as the introduction of HD showed us a new technology to adapt to.
Beauty Advice By Crystal Marie Islas Of Rage Make-Up
Q: Tell a little about yourself personally and if you attended school or you are a self taught makeup artist?
A: I have been playing with make up since i was in 7th grade. To be honest. I was self taught. i would try to achieve the looks on my own until I discovered youtube. Watching youtube videos definitely helped me out so much.
One of my first Make up Gurus I started watching was the Queen Of Blending and Make up by Ren Ren. And eventually I did attend The Skin and Make up Institute in Peoria, Arizona. I was trained by Corrina Cooke.
Interview With Karen Elaine Sidbury MUA Of Face4ward Makeup Artistry
Q: Do you think going to school for make-up artistry is important to excel in the business later on?
A: Education is always an asset. If the funds were available I would love to attend the Makeup Designory in New York or the London Makeup Academy.
However, an artist with a natural talent that practices and hones their skill on their own can be successful – even excel in this business. Look at Billy B, one of the idols of most makeup artists; he is basically self-taught and he is at the top of the heap. He is what most of us aspire to be.
Now in my case, my heart’s desire is to become proficient in special effects makeup so I feel that makeup school would be a huge benefit for me. Since in my wildest dreams I could never afford to pay for it, I have to learn as best I can by means of DVDs, online sources, books, and trial and error.

Q: Do you think going to school for make-up artistry is important to excel in the business later on?
A: While I have never had any formal training outside of the basic artist certification at M.A.C. Cosmetics which primarily focuses on product knowledge as opposed to technique and application, I do feel that at some point attending an artistry course or two can only catapult my artistic growth.
Much of my artistic knowledge has been from self- taught, hands on experience and by shadowing other artists, but there are things that I would like to formally learn. (i.e pros ethics)
