I can create a variety of different headshot styles for you: we can do indoor headshots with studio lighting, and a white, black or neutral background. With studio lighting I can create a variety of different moods for your headshot from dramatic and artistic with lots of shadows, to bright and airy with even light, perfect for commercial headshots.
We can also shoot outdoors, with natural light in a variety of setting from urban, to pastoral. With my unlimited headshot package, you have the opportunity to shoot both indoors and outdoors, thus getting a great contrast of looks for your different headshots. Talking about headshots with agents, managers, and other actors you hear a lot of things like: "The eyes need to pop in your headshot," "You have to have a legit, and a commercial/musical theater headshot," "A headshot has to show your type," "New York headshots vs. LA headshots" and so on and so on. But what does all that really mean?
To create a headshot that really speaks for you, it has to say something about YOU. I tell my clients to think about the headshot session as a conversation with friends. We want to show you being you: your commercial/smiley headshot should look like you are telling a friend a happy or exciting story; your dramatic headshot should look like you telling a serious or dramatic story to a friend. I try to make that happen, by creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere, where you can feel comfortable to express yourself in any way necessary to get a good headshot.
After all, what's the good of a headshot of you if it isn't you? Or doesn't reflect the kind of roles you would play. I agree with the main stream that says: "every one should have at least two headshots: A more serious headshot and a more light or commercial headshot." But at Taylor Hooper Photography we tailor that to you.
If you are a comedian who wants to go up for specifically comedies, sit coms, and lighter fair, then maybe your "serious headshot" doesn't have to be all that serious. Maybe that headshot is simply a contrast to the laughing, bright, smiley commercial headshot that comes so easily to you. Maybe it's a closed mouth smile, with a secret behind it.
Conversely if you are a very serious person, maybe an actor going up for more dramatic roles, soap operas, Shakespeare, etc., then the contrast to your intense, dramatic headshot could simply be, again, a closed mouth smile, with a wry humor behind it, or whatever level of levity is most common in your day to day character.
Basically, you are the boss, this is your acting, singing, or corporate career we are talking about. I will help you create headshots that are an asset to you, that help complete the package that you bring to an audition or interview. For more tips on taking a great headshot visit my info page.
