Mandy McKenna Hair & Makeup Artist in St Louis, MO

Mandy has been in the beauty industry since 2000, but an artist all her life. Charcoals and watercolors were her passion, until her fascination with the art of hair design was sparked as Salon Manager (3 years) for a world renowned stylist and competition judge, Rick Quessenberry.

She used to study his techniques any spare moment she had. She was attending SW Missouri State (now just Missouri State) for Computer Information Systems, but programming was too monotonous and she needed more of a creative outlet.

She took a break from her Bachelors and went on to pursue a Cosmetology Degree from Merrell University of Beauty Arts & Sciences. Obsessed with hair colour and captivated by the endless possibilities of makeup, she was eager to learn more. Her curiosity heightened as she spent more and more time in the Aesthetics Department at Merrell and read books by Kevyn Aucoin and Bobbi Brown.

Continuing education has been a big part in her growth as a stylist; she has attended over 50 advanced education classes in her beauty industry career.

In 2005, Mandy started dabbling in modeling. Just a few months later, she was booked for her first photoshoot as a hair and makeup artist, by an agency in St Louis, MO. Since then, she has had the pleasure of working with over 30 photographers and countless models and brides.

Mandy has made a name for herself as a credible and reliable hair and makeup artist, being published in St Louis Magazine, C3 Magazine and LUXE Magazine, as well as working on ads for companies like Muck Boots, Niemen Marcus and Paperdolls Boutique, just to name a few. She has also had the privilege of working with national and international clothing designers. In January 2008, she was hired as a freelance artist for MAC cosmetics.

Mandy is passionate, not only about her craft, but about being eco-conscious and using only cruelty-free products...and just animals in general.
