Award winning make-up artist, master hairstylist and Instructor, Karen Kobylka has been a successful entrepreneur for over 21 years. Karen is highly respected for her masterful skills in the hair and make-up industry and for pioneering the mobile hair industry in Edmonton.

Make-up artist on several productions including "Jake and the Kid", World Figure Skating Championships, World Track & Field Games, RCMP Memorial for CTV- Chief Anchor Lloyd Robertson, TV Germany, CTV, Quick Tax CD Rom, McPhee Workshops, The Learning Channel, Commercial Shoots for Several Corporations including Canadian Tire, and a motion picture.
Karens work has been featured on Global Television with Lorraine Mansbridge.
Make-up director for the Worlds Games.
Karen is currently completing her American Bachelors of M.C. Accreditation.
Karen will be the only stylist to hold this designation in Western Canada.

At the age of 17, Karen Kobylka enrolled in beauty school at Est-elle Academy of Hair Design, and was awarded ribbons in hair design, cutting, perming and coloring. After receiving her training, she graduated in 1987. Always upgrading to provide her clients with top quality service, Karen continued taking more make-up courses such as an Art Diploma through ICS College, Several Make-up Diplomas such as Jordane Cosmetics, Corrective Cosmetics from Derma Blend to name but a few and an Abundance of Hair workshops. After years of upgrading her skills Karen returned to Est-elle Academy of Hair Design as a Hair styling and Makeup Instructor.

In 1989 Karen took an extensive three month advanced make-up course from PPC and an advanced business and beauty course from Partnerships in Change as well as a Theatrical/Special effects make up course from the University of Alberta.

As a freelance artist, "traveling" is the business, and on "location" is where one has to be. Karen decided to open one of Edmonton's first mobile hair and make-up services. In 1994 In Motion Mobile Hair and Make-up Service was born. She created a team of industry professionals, highly trained in their field, bringing the best in beauty services and products in the comfort of a client's home or business. During these years, Karen won a $2,000.00 US scholarship at a world famous advanced make-up school- "Joe Blasco Schools" also won first place for special effects make-up in the Edmonton Make-up competition. Since then, she has taught several make-up courses at NAIT, YWCA, Portage College, and several junior and senior highschools throughout alberta helping teens achieve their full advantage. Karen has designed and developed a professional make-up artist course workbook/ dvd and several workshops that she is hoping to publish one day.
