Eric Truax Fashion Beauty Product Photographer in Albany, New York

"Vision is key. Skill and technique are important aspects of photography, but without vision, the pre-visualization and the ability to see and to capture, there is nothing. It's in the eye...you have to see...not only with your eyes, but with your mind."
I am a photographer specializing in fashion, beauty, glamour, product, and fine art nude photography. I began my serious interest in photography after completing a high school photo class where I attended a NYC photo trip and fell in love with photography. I began shooting immediately after graduating high school for various portrait studios as a freelance portrait and sports photographer.
I eventually made my way into commercial and fashion photography starting as a photographer's assistant working with various photographers both in Albany, NY and in NYC. I worked on shoots ranging from food and still life to fashion and beauty to architectural and interiors. My interests, heart, and focus remain with fashion, beauty, glamour, and the nude as well as product and tabletop work.
What I think I enjoy the most about photography is the ability to capture the minute details of a particular subject especially in beauty and product work. The simple line, shape, and detailed texture of a particular subject and how light and shadow interact with that subject is very appealing to me. But the ability to capture that fleeting moment of human essence is what I think appeals to me the most about photography.
I think the eyes are probably the most important aspect when photographing a person or a model. There is such strength and conviction shown in the eyes. ...and without it, without that power, that story, that truth, that essence…the image is dead. Lifeless...nothing. It’s in the eyes…
I am always looking for models, makeup artists, hair stylists and fashion industry professionals to work and collaborate with.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in working with me.
Eric
