Allyson Farr Fashion Makeup Artist in New York City, New York

My passion for make-up was first realized while playing dress-up with my little sister. In my teens I tried modeling, and tested with several photographers.
More often than not, I was applying my own make-up and styling my own hair. That is when I noticed the lack of artists in my area. I started looking into make-up artistry and, with no professional experience, landed a job at the Lancôme counter in a Boscov’s department store.
The entire year I spent at the counter was an amazing hands-on experience. I learned something new each day from every girl in the department, as well as from company training seminars.
I also discovered the importance of skin care and what a difference it makes in how a make-up application looks and feels.
As much as I enjoyed my work, it was obvious that there would be no way for me to grow as an artist unless a change of location was made.
In July 2007 I made the move to New York City to attend the Make-up Designory’s (mud.edu) Fashion Make-up Artistry Program.
In September 2007 I became certified in Make-up Artistry, Hairstyling, and Portfolio Development.
I’m looking forward to immersing myself in this industry, and plan to leave my mark in only the most positive way.
I aspire to work in print, catalog, editorial, runway and beyond. Looking forward to working with you.
