Hawaii Photographer Again – Same Old New Chapter

Good Bye Fiji, Aloha Hawaii!
Just four short months ago I said good bye to Hawaii to pursue photography in Europe.

Instead I spent some unproductive time in Europe, ended up in Fiji and now have returned to Hawaii.
I spent one month in Fiji instead of the planned three, due to the circumstances and the lack of possibilities I decided to return at this time.

This last 4 months is what I would call flexible planning :) !
The trip as every trip thought me a great deal about myself and put some things in better perspective.

I have written about the state of Hawaii photography, Hawaii photographers and Hawaiian models and I am not expecting to take Hawaii by storm this time around either.
Instead I will attempt to use imagination, intuition, inspiration, curiosity to name a few to continue my photography journey and possibly embrace different styles.

The desire to try new avenues comes from frustration with flaky models, and from the fact that I have been doing photography which has not been satisfying.

What could be the reasons why I have been on a photography path which might not have been the right one?
Perhaps the question is wrong and there isn’t a right or wrong way to do photography. As Neo said: “Choice. The problem is choice”.
I could list outside factors like flaky models, strong competition, lack of opportunities but those sound a lot like complaining and placing the responsibility on easy targets and not myself.

Some upcoming goals (or choices):
- photographing only what I really love, curious about or intrigued by
- photographing more and with more freedom not being bound by the pursuit of perfection
- gaining more knowledge of the business aspect of photography

I have been away from Hawaii 3 times so this is my 4th return.
Each time a very different experience. Let’s see what happens next!

Well, believe it or not, I wish you luck in achieving your goals…I am sure that you will find what you want in Hawaii and you’ll be able to be happy about your work just as much as the people who view your site and look at your photos…
