One of The Greatest Hungarians!

October 23, 2006

Am I one of the Greatest Hungarians? Yes of course, but not self proclaimed!

One of my blogs is being featured in the Greatest Hungarians section of a Hungarian website called Kispad (meaning: little bench).
The Hungarian article can be read here and it is titled after the subtitle of one of my blogs: Hungarian Communist Depression or Fijian Tropical Paradise?

The following is a loose but accurate translation of the article:

In accordance with the typically melancholic Hungarian saying the greatest Hungarians always blossom abroad and not in their home country.
Due to our national holiday we present Ferenc Ecseki photographer as part of our Greatest Hungarians series.

Mr. Ecseki left Hungary 20 years ago and currently resides in Hawaii. As seen on his Homepage his primary source of income is from model photography.
What makes him special for us is that unlike other Hungarians who live in foreign countries he openly declares that he cannot stand his country and without hiding the reasons why.

The title of our article is borrowed from one of his blog titles which was written during his visit to Hungary in September 2006. In this blog Ecseki demonstrates his ability to evaluate the Hungarian situation and to prove he sees the point in hand then gives a detailed breakdown what his problem is with his country. First and foremost his Mom.

I am expecting a variety of responses, the first person who commented called my blog a “Waste of bandwidth”.

I could not agree more with the writer as I immediately expressed it in my comment to the article.
During my brief 2 month stay in Hungary I found broadband internet connections to be quite expensive and I completely share the commenter’s opinion.

My site SHOULD be excluded from web surfing in Hungary if it consumes valuable bandwidth resources which could be better utilized for more noble purposes.

Who are Hungarians anyways? Are Hungarians really Martians? Are there any famous Hungarians?
I happen to have an article about how the Most Famous Hungarians have contributed to human civilization.
