The Continuing Decline Of Hungary
After being back in Hungary for a week I am beginning to sense the current atmosphere in the country.
The communist party is in power under a different name called Socialists.
The media is sending the message of coming hardship in the form of raised prices, higher taxes and increased regulations.
The communists promised a different future during the recent elections and now must eat their words.
Some things are just universal.
Hungarians are used to difficult times, the history of Hungary is one tragedy and rebirth after another.
Adversary is often accepted with a shrug and considered by many to be part of our destiny or curse but nevertheless the maker of a survivor nation.
Yesterday I visited three famous beautiful historic towns north of Budapest to scout photo shoot locations: Szentendre, Visegrad, and Esztergom.
I took the photo below just outside the Esztergom Basilica and it is as good of a symbol as any of the continuing need for the blessing of Hungarians.
