Japanese Bikini Model Photos From Beautiful Hawaii

Living in exotic Hawaii offers many lifestyle benefits and some are photography related. Hawaii is not really the USA and the Asian population and tourists can be a source of beautiful, natural models (and non-models).

Growing up in oppressed Communist Hungary I never imagined I would be photographing Japanese bikini models in tropical paradise.
These photos are from the early days of my model photography adventure taken in 2004.

Aki just like many other friends and acquaintances was nice enough to let me photograph her. After all what girl does not want to be a bikini model for a day?

Without much technical knowledge or model photography experience these photos were taken mostly on instinct.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and visit one of my earliest practice fashion model photoshoots. The location was Waikiki Beach and Waimeia Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.

It was back in 2004 but I am writing this post in 2009 as I am sorting through my old picture CDs.
It is both entertaining and humbling to look back at photos taken so long ago. But all these practice shoots and the lessons learned starting from the earliest mistakes that can aid the photographer to improve the way how he or she sees, interprets and captures the world around.

The Beautiful Blond Amateur Fashion Model in the tile is actually a friend and it was her first “formal” photoshoot. My first models were the women around me whose looks inspired me.
One can easily see why Heidi would fall into that category; she is the ultimate girl next door with youthful beautiful face and long blond hair.
This photo was snapped on Waikiki Beach at Kapiolani Park while the cute sundress and the warm trade winds added a dynamic touch.

Beautiful Amateur Japanese Fashion And Bikini Model Photos

For a photographer like me who loves to take the picture of first time, amateur or non models it is a real treat when I find a beautiful Japanese girl like Yoko who exceeds all my expectations in front of the camera.

Back in the old days I used to ask friends and acquaintances who’s looks inspired me to pose for my photoshoots. Ever since I’ve always enjoyed the beauty and innocence of non-models which can be fully explored in travel photography of course .. but that came years later.

These pictures are from 2004 but I am writing this post in 2009 as I am sorting through CDs that have been kept in storage. This gives me an interesting retrospective to examine what has changed the way I relate to photography, beauty and what has stayed with me throughout the years.

Meeting Yoko in person you would never guess that she is capable of such an intimate and captivating portrait. I do not mean this a negative way, she just has that bubbly, silly and fun personality that suggests she could not stay still or remain serious in front of the camera.

My First Male Fashion Model And Surfer Photoshoot

The following images were shot during my first ever male fashion model photoshoot at the Kapiolani Park in Waikiki, Hawaii. The surfing theme was shot just adjacent to the park on Queen’s Beach which is just East of Waikiki Beach.

The year these photos were taken was 2003 but I am writing this post in 2009 because I am going through my archived CDs which have been accumulating in storage during the past few years.

The model is not really a model, just a friend. In the earliest days of my model photography I often asked friends and non-model strangers for photoshoots.

The use of phallic symbols is not exactly a trademark of my photography but the surfboard did provide a dynamic an interesting visual element. Nevertheless this being one of my first modeling photos ever, I was quite pleased with the results.

My First Ever Model Photoshoot: German Girl With Dreadlocks

The following images are scans of slides I shot during my first ever model photoshoot at the Kapiolani Park in Waikiki, Hawaii. Well, she was not really a model just an acquaintance and I was not really a photographer but the above title is the easiest way to describe our experiment.

The date was 2003 but I am writing this post in 2009 because I am going through my CDs which have been in storage during the past few years.
Any photographer who looks back at his or her early photos knows how bizarre, humbling and funny this experience can be.

A lot of seemingly forgotten memories and details get recalled while looking at old pictures so I will try to incorporate those with comments and critiques I can come up with in hindsight.
My first model was truly beautiful with symmetric face and dreadlocks which is somewhat unique for a German girl.
