The 4th Anniversary Of Ferenc.biz NOT Ference

Four years ago on October 28, 2003 I purchased the domain name ferenc.biz.
My website had a simple goal back then: to have a slide show of a few of my photos. It was just one page for quite awhile if I remember correctly.

Much has happened since and I learned a great deal about blogging and optimizing websites for search engines (most of it from a very good friend). It has been a great learning experience and I spent a lot of hours perfecting and building this site throughout the years.

The website for a long time was only the albums and a few pages of text. Only in the summer of 2006 I installed the blogging software Wordpress and started to add content on the regular basis.
I was very encouraged to build the blog further as it gained visibility in Google search results.

The learning and experimentation has not stopped, as we speak I am testing new Wordpress plug ins, adding more content to the album pages and constantly thinking of new posts and articles to write. As my knowledge increases it seems like changes and improvements come more rapidly and on a larger scale.

Even large side projects have sprung in terms of subdomains like my Photography Directory and Photography Store. Even if these concepts aren’t fully developed they are a valuable investments which will pay off int he future financially or as learning experience.

The Name Ference

An amusing thing is that people constantly write my name as Ference (maybe a more logical spelling after hearing my name) which coincidentally happens to be also my first name and last name initial.
I didn’t even know what Ference was besides a name I guess of many people which I never heard of until I decided to research it.
It is quite interesting that Google comes back with 2,600,000 results for ferenc and with 1,390,000 for ference.
I was shocked to see that ference is catching up in such an alarming pace!

Yes, it is true the name Ferenc is sexy and exotic to many but it is not much more glamorous in Hungarian than Frank in English.
It turned out to be a good name in the West and thanks to some hard work quite often this website ranks 1st for the word ferenc in Google.
My only point with talking about my ignorance with the name ference is that if I mention the word ference enough times in this post, this text will have Ference so many times that this page and my website will show up in searches for the word Ference.

This Ference visibility will be useful if people search for my name but misspell it as Ference.
At the time of writing this post I am nowhere in Google for ference but I am No 1 for ferenc. This will surely change!
