Beautiful Blonde Amateur Fashion Model Photos From Waikiki Beach

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and visit one of my earliest practice fashion model photoshoots. The location was Waikiki Beach and Waimeia Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.
It was back in 2004 but I am writing this post in 2009 as I am sorting through my old picture CDs.
It is both entertaining and humbling to look back at photos taken so long ago. But all these practice shoots and the lessons learned starting from the earliest mistakes that can aid the photographer to improve the way how he or she sees, interprets and captures the world around.
The Beautiful Blond Amateur Fashion Model in the tile is actually a friend and it was her first “formal” photoshoot. My first models were the women around me whose looks inspired me.
One can easily see why Heidi would fall into that category; she is the ultimate girl next door with youthful beautiful face and long blond hair.
This photo was snapped on Waikiki Beach at Kapiolani Park while the cute sundress and the warm trade winds added a dynamic touch.
A heart carved in the trunk of a palm tree gave us an impromptu chance to role play.
The tears are real, courtesy of the trade winds which made the model’s eyes watery. In most circumstances that is a reason to pause a photoshoot but for us it was just what the picture needed.
This pin-up style photo was taken on the North Shore; it is not particularly well composed or cropped but a fun picture anyways of a beautiful girl.
That is the real Heidi! Especially during a first photoshoot the safest bet is to capture the true personality of the model, more complicated locations, setups and concepts can be introduced at later shoots.
I never ask my models to smile for the camera but if it comes naturally I am happy to capture the moment.
The more serious the better! Of course not forced but if it is part of the model’s personality or current mood. For me those are the most memorable photos.
I remember being quite proud of this composition for placing the fishpond in the background; I also liked the mood and how the model’s hair fell.
Risky business to shoot in the harsh sunlight even if the sun is behind the model. Another lesson learned. The model looks cute though.
Back in open shade which is clearly superior the light for beauty shots and portraits. I also liked this photo when I received the prints for its nice balanced composition and intimate mood.
