Alternative Model Interview With Ambellina Of Leeds, UK
Q: Quick intro please, where were you born, ethnic background and what types of modeling are your favorites?
A: I was born where I live now, I’m currently 18, and I’ve been involved in the alternative modelling scene for about 4 years now.
Q: How would you describe yourself as model in three words?
A: New. Exciting. Creative.
Q: What’s controversial or unique about you?
A: I think what’s unique about me with reference to the modelling work I do is that I love being a chameleon, I’m open to any ideas and love having a challenge on a shoot.
Q: Which celebrity have you been told you resemble (if any)?
A: Some people have said dita von teese, but I can’t really see it.
Q: What is your favorite part about your body?
A: I like that I have a small waist and bigger hips – I like hourglass figures.
Q: What is your favorite or most exciting aspect about being a model?
A: Because I do a lot of MUA work, and I love fashion, it’s seeing it all being brought together, especially if there’s a strong concept involved in a shoot.
Q: Do you have any beauty / skin care tips or tricks to look fresh and rested for early morning photoshoots?
A: MOISTURISE. Seriously, and wear suncream, no one wants a model with prematurely wrinkly skin from awful sun exposure.
Q: Did you always wanted to be an model, or did you stumble upon it, get discovered etc.? Who or what inspired you to become a model?
A: I sort of went into it because of a guy I as dating at the time. He used me on one of his shoots and I really enjoyed it and it went from there – I guess I have him to thank for this aspect of my life.
Q: Who is your favorite photographer, designer, high-fashion model and celebrity? Why?
A: My favourite photographer is J. Isobel De Lisle, she does some amazing art nudes and is so creatively inspiring. I’d love to shoot with her one day.
Q: What would you like to change about yourself if you can choose only one thing?
A: Hmm I’d maybe make my fingers a bit longer, I know that sounds weird but I think longish hands look very elegant.
Q: Have you had any negative experiences with model agencies, talent scouts? What are top 3 warning signs to look out for?
A: Not really, I mean there are a LOT of scams out there a lot of girls have fallen into, but luckily I’ve never fallen for any of those yet. Usually: If it’s too good to be true, it is. And never pay an agency anything.
Q: What are your thoughts on beauty pageants, contestants and pageant moms?
A: Beauty pageants – I mean each to their own on that front really, but the creepy baby pageants are just.. weird. I think little kids should be able to just be little kids and have fun rather that just feel under pressure.
Q: Would you work for a client that uses fur? What is the best way to balance personal beliefs and client needs?
A: Yes, I eat meat, so I’d wear fur. It’s more complicated than that, but I think it would be hypocritical of me to be for one thing and against the other.
Q: What tips and advice do you have for aspiring models just starting out, something you wish someone would’ve told you ?
A: I think the main piece of advice is to check credentials and never do anything out of your comfort zone. If you think something’s weird it probably is – trust your instinct and don’t be persuaded to model anything you don’t think you’re suited to, or aren’t interested in. Chances are there’s plenty of models who DO want to do it, so leave it to them.
Q: Would you share some of your future goals, your life motto, any words of wisdom that get you by in life and professional career?
A: In the future, I’d like to have a steady job in scientific research, and keep the modelling as one of my main hobbies. I’d also love to meet a nice guy ultimately, but I won’t think about settling down for a while yet XD .
Q: What has been your favourite shoot to date:
A: I had a shoot recently with a couple of really cool themes, loads of props, which I think the photos are going to be awesome from, or one where I’ve got some of my favourite photos from near the sea.
