LethalAmbrose of Romannia – Make-up Artist Interview
Q: Did you always wanted to be an artist, or did you stumble upon your talent by chance? Who or what inspired you to become a makeup artist?
A: I always liked to play with mom’s make-up, colours, finger-painting, etc. So I begun experimenting on myself since early ages :)
Q: Describe your “Classic Approach to Beauty.” how do you define beauty?
A: Beauty is versatility, change, novelty; manipulating visuals to adapt to any scenario.
Q: Tell a little about yourself personally and if you attended school or you are a self taught makeup artist?
A: I’m an eccentric individual. Self taught.
Q: Do you think going to school for make-up artistry is important to excel in the business later on?
A: If one wants to follow a career in make-up artistry, it’s obviously very important
Q: What is your favorite or most exciting aspect about your job?
A: The freedom of self expression
Q: What individual products and brands you’re “addicted” to at the moment and you use on a daily basis?
A: M.A.C, Ck; Bruno Vassari and Shiseido(for skincare)
Q: What are some of the most basic but effective skin care tips in general that you have, that are really important?
A: Exfoliation+moisturizing! (and of course, never forget to carefully remove all make-up before going to bed)
Q: What do you find to be the most common mistakes women make with makeup? What’s the worst thing a woman can do to her skin?
A: The worst thing a woman can do to her skin..hmmm…Well personally, I’m against artificial tanning, especially since so many women forget or ignore the importance of moisturizing. Dehydration leads to many many many premature wrinkles.
Q: Do teenage girls needs to splurge on high-priced makeup products, or are drugstore items are just as satisfactory?
A: It’s up to their will. As long as they are well informed about what they need and what types of products they are purchasing.
Q: What are your steps for the perfect, flawless, natural look?
A: Tonic+moisturizing cream+high lightening make-up base+foundation+mattifying powder+blush+ separating lash mascara+neutral tone eye shadow+lip gloss
Q: What is a really quick way to change a day look to a special occasion or nighttime face?
A: There are no quick ways to it, if you want something flawless. But assuming you were in a hurry, I’d say.. a deep red lipstick and some liquid jett-black eye liner would do a (dramatic) trick
Q: In terms of eyeliner, if you had to choose between a pencil, liquid, or creme/gel based, which one would you choose? Why?
A: Liquid eyeliner. Precision counts.
Q: Lip gloss or Lipstick. Which product is best? Why?
A: Personally I prefer lasting lipsticks
Q: What brand/type of concealer is your favorite for covering up the after effects of a late night out i.e. under-eye circles, blemishes?
A: In my opinion, there’s a small problem with concealers..the better they cover up, the more they dehydrate the area. The best so far was CoverGirl…but I still have to try the M.A.C
Q: Would you share some of your future goals, your life motto, any words of wisdom that get you by in life and professional career?
A: Yes, always put yourself first. Don’t follow stereotypes, trends or idols, better focus on self-discovery and building up your own person (…or persona..) In time you might be surprised to realize that you’re the one inspiring others.
Q: What tips and advice do you have for aspiring makeup artists just starting out?
A: Just play :)
