Red Lotus: National Floral Emblem – Country Flower of Vietnam

Red lotus flower trivia: Red lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera) is also referred to as Indian Lotus, Sacred Lotus, Bean of India, or Lotus.

It is common to mistake water-lily for lotus. The best way to identify lotus is by its unique circular seed pod which looks like spouts of a watering can.

Another difference is that water-lilies come in a variety of colors, as opposed to lotus flowers which grow only in shades of pink or white.

Lotus flowers have the amazing ability to regulate the temperature of its flowers to within a narrow range at 86 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Research showed that this temperature remained even when air temperature decreased to 50 degrees!
