Calla Lily flower trivia: Calla lily (Zantedeschia aethiopica) and for that matter all Zantedeschia species are poisonous because they contain calcium oxalate.
All parts of the plant are toxic, causing irritation and swelling of the mouth and throat, intense vomiting and diarrhea. Interestingly calla lily flower leaves are sometimes cooked and eaten.
