Japanese Lingerie and Bikini Model in Rainforest
Having a rainforest theme photoshoot with an exotic Japanese bikini, lingerie and fashion model allows for a wide variety of interpretations and story telling.
I prefer to capture the model’s natural beauty in her current uninterrupted mood. There is always some interference when a camera is pointed at someone but with the proper chemistry between model and photographer, open communication regarding the project goes a long way to achieve a comfortable session.
Japanese Fashion Model Surrounded By Butterflies
Soft diffused light from an overcast sky provided high quality illumination that is best to bring out rich colors. One of the model’s props which she brought with herself were colorful butterflies from an arts and crafts store.
We picked the most matching kimono style top from her wardrobe for that day.
A trunk of a huge banyan tree provided a perfect backdrop with its strong vertical lines and organic texture.

Overlaying the Rule Of Thirds grid, we can see that it is not easy to get away with placing the model in the center. Yes, the butterfly over her right shoulder is at grid crosshairs but it i snot a significant enough element to count.
Japanese Lingerie Model With Perfect Body

“Natural poses” like this only work flawlessly if the model feels completely at easy and preferably she originated the pose.
My job here was to find and frame the background that would provided context and assisted in telling the story. Letting the model react to her surroundings and express herself via her mood at the time was the other part needed to create this photo which I could not control so I did not try to.

While the model looks off center in the original image, the Rule of Thirds grid reveals that it is the diagonal position of her right leg is what causing that illusion. With highly structured and geometric backgrounds one can get away with such centered placement of the main figure.
Beautiful Asian Lingerie Model In Jungle

Once again, I had to make sure the composition was to my liking as I looked through the viewfinder. There are so many elements to consider and so many possible choices to sort through instinct is the most enjoyable way to take photos in my opinion.
I love the mood and pose of Jen, she is the perfect model for a photoshoot like this; classy, elegant, feminine, intelligent and exotic.

When it comes to the 3:2 aspect ratio, filling the frame with the full body of the subject will not place her face in Rule of Thirds grid cross hairs. In this case, her lingerie top is in a grid intersection, so there is an “element of interest” where it is supposed to be. Nevertheless her face is perfectly halved by a vertical grid line, thus ensuring a balanced composition.

I could never come up with a perfect pose for every model so how do I get such a nice photos like this? By patiently letting Jen “do her own thing” and capturing those moments which are most expressive.

Sometimes due to the background or other compositional issues, the model will be centered. The composition will in this case not be according to The Golden Ratio. Cropping during post production can often remedy this situation.

Having fun with an amazon princess theme here; the dead tree trunk is once again a great base adding solid foundation to the picture. The aperture could have been set larger so the background would have been more blurred, thus making the model stand out more.

Overlaying the Rule Of Thirds grid, we can see that the face of the model is perfectly laced in the top right grid intersection, creating a balanced composition.
Japanese Lingerie Model Holding A Colorful Mask

I always ask my models to bring fun and interesting personal items as props and this time we got a colorful mask with feathers which really matches the jungle theme. I find banyan trees can create truly exotic backgrounds, they have shape, texture and an overall look people can immediately identify with.

Overlaying the Rule Of Thirds grid, we can see that adhering to the rule is not always crucial, if there is a prop offsetting the rigid placement of the centered subject.
Asian Lingerie Model At Rainforest Stream

When photographing a beautiful female body on a rugged location one thing I watch out for is not trying too hard to portray the model to be overly sensual. Those cheesy shots may work on bikini calendars but I prefer to go another route. Peaceful intimate photo of our Japanese model without any direction given.

Overlaying the Rule Of Thirds grid, we can see that not only a face can be that “detail of interest” that should be under a grid cross hair. In this case. the model’s lingerie top also qualifies.
Lingerie Model On Muddy Rainforest Floor

Getting a bit dirty at the muddy creek bed offers the exploration of wild concepts. The light was not falling evenly on the model but I believe that just makes the photo even more real and interesting.
The beautiful bronze skin color of the model is perfectly complimented by the brown mud and rocks. The roots provide a slightly creepy element with the largest root resembling a huge anaconda snake. The purposefully wet hair and finally the animalistic but not too posed or unnatural crawl adds the final touche to this photo.

Overlaying the Rule Of Thirds grid, we can see that this image would be improved by cropping, during post production. Either ends of the image could be cropped, but I would loose some space from behind the model so I could preserve the detail of the roots in the foreground.
Intimate Model Photography In Rugged Rainforest

There is something quite intimate and beautiful in seeing an exotic Asian beauty in the middle of the jungle in a fetal position. That is the first thing that comes to my mind when viewing this photo.
Most important goal is not to make the model and photo look cheap or cheesy. Often times there is a fine line between hoochie and Gucci.
Some models are incapable of taking non-cheesy photos. Therefore I am very careful when selecting models who’s personality I see depth in. Jen is a true gem.

Overlaying the Fibonacci spiral, we can see that the combination of the thick, winding root and the model in a fetal position created a composition with a gently curving line. The model’s face ending up at the end of the spiral, according to the Golden ratio guarantees a balanced composition.

Another pose and another vantage point while exploring all the angles and possibilities at this location. Shooting downward has always been one of my favorite angles, it can be quite powerful as the photographer (and the picture viewer) is in a dominant position.

Overlaying the Rule Of Thirds grid, we can see that even though the model’s closer eye is not in a grid cross hair, it is along a vertical grid line. And her strong jaw line, accentuated by the top light, is a good enough element to be in the cross hair.
Exotic Japanese Model Portrait With Wet Hair

Finally a peaceful closeup portrait of our exotic Asian beauty. The overcast sky provides excellent diffused soft light, perfect for these wild beauty shots.
A small amount of baby oil applied on the model’s skin provides an nice shine and it also makes water drops stay on. Keeping the model’s hair somewhat wet throughout most of the shoot is key; it adds that special exotic element that makes for great images.

Overlaying the Rule Of Thirds grid, we can see that the model’s closer eye is almost perfectly in a grid line intersection, producing a balanced composition.

am a wana be model but i tell u dos gurls out dere re perfect~
A very stunning model you’ve captured. Some wonderful work.
Wonderful work. My favorite image would be those one where she is squatting on the log, and thinking to herself. I wish I had a little more time to do work like this mate.
I guess this is supposed to be beauty. but…whatever.
