Blonde Finnish Lingerie and Fashion Model in Black and White

I love to photograph original creative concepts. The following photos of a girl from Finland are a prefect example of such a photoshoot.

The session took place in Berlin, Germany at a construction site which was closed for the weekend. I found the girl from Finland at a local modeling agency when I asked them if they had any new faces that needed portfolio photos taken.

This is a great way for any vagabond photographer to find models in their home or in foreign countries. At the time of this European backpacking photography trip I lived in Hawaii.
These shoots for modeling agencies are for free but can yield diverse photos for both the model’s and photographer’s portfolios and can enable photographers to establish good relationships with agencies.

This first photo is actually one of the last frames I took during the photoshoot but it beautifully illustrates how unique and unexpected ideas can come up. There was no way to plan this session because until we turned the corner and saw this construction site we had no idea where we were shooting. Therefore I could not have anticipated that I would be photographing a blonde Finish lingerie model pushing a wheel barrel at an abandoned construction site .. but apparently that is just what happened.

But let’s start at the beginning of the photoshoot and look at some photos in chronological order.
Most bikini and lingerie model photoshoots start with fashion photography. It is especially useful when it is the first photoshoot as was the case with the girl from Finland.
The model wearing more clothes and showing less skin is a great way to warm up, establish chemistry, check for best angles and not to attract too many onlookers immediately.

Finnish Fashion Model Photography In Front Of Weathered Brick Wall

I consider most of Europe a collection of weathered brick walls so it is not hard to find simple but fitting locations and backgrounds for general fashion photography.
In this initial phase of the shoot I give even less instructions to the model as usual, there is no reason to intimidate or confuse the model with a barrage of requests. Especially if the model knows how to pose or be natural it is best practice to let her be the choreographer leaving the photographer as an observant.

Fashion Modeling Picture With Finnish Model In Flower Embroiled Push Up Bra

It was the model’s idea to use the jacket in a more interesting way than usual. This way the embroiled push up bra got nicely displayed but without using an over the top exaggerated pose which would have ruined the photo for me.
Fortunately the laid back personality of the model was in sync with my style of capturing emotions and moods in a more subtle way.

Intimate Black And White Lingerie Modeling Portrait With Blonde Model

I like this portrait especially in black and white because of the shapes that are created by the dark embroiled push up bra and jacket. And also because of the contrast between the dark clothes and the model’s platinum blonde hair. Black and white photos can greatly benefit from scenes that have contrast and defined geometry: shapes and lines.

There is not only bright and dark contrast in this photo but contrasting shapes as well. The curves of the model’s bra, bust, face, eyes, and lips are offset by the almost military uniform like tailoring of the jacket.
These details are not pre-planned, neither was the fortunate event that the model brought a black bra with flower embroilment which gave a much needed accent to the otherwise blend solid colored black bra.

It was a lot of fun to barrow the construction site and do a location scouting. It was immediately obvious that there were not many colors which I love because being surrounded by neutral gray makes the colors of the subject pop. The site was also great for black and white photography with it’s simple backgrounds.

The model happened to bring perfect wardrobe for this location. The black thigh high stockings, the white knitted hoodie were balanced out by the gray cement wall. Fortunately the model who I think was also a dancer could pose gracefully which is so important but not often found in amateur models.

From another angle the very long legs of the model are accentuated. The model’s pose is dynamic, her limbs create diagonal lines which here convey drama and strength.

If you’ve got it flaunt it! I usually stay away from obvious back shots but the model’s perfect figure, posture and wardrobe come nicely together in this photo.

Another fortunate thing was that the lack of colors of the model’s wardrobe perfectly matched the gray color scheme of the construction site. Obviously unplanned since the neither me or the model knew this morning where we would be shooting.

The black thigh high stockings, the white knitted hoodie, the long legs of the model, the elegant pose and the minimalist gray background of the construction site all contribute to the success of this photo.

Adding that circular shape to the composition creates the necessary visual interest to the vertically shot image. If there was no hole in that block of cement this photo would have never been taken.

A closer crop of the above image (cropped in the camera not in Photoshop) is just another variation to ensure there are many slightly different versions to choose from when editing.
It is a good practice to interpret and capture a scene from a wide variety of angles, in other words making the best of every situation.

Beautiful Finnish Girl In Black And White Zebra Striped Scarf

Another excellent wardrobe piece was this knitted black and white striped scarf. It did not really work with any of her other clothes but the model was adventurous enough to assist me to make the best of this situation and come away with an eye-catching image.

A wider shot pays tribute to the perfect body of the model. Because the model has long limbs I thought this background was really fitting. Props of the proper shape like in this photo can assist in elongating bodies or creating other type of visual effect or harmony. Notice how almost all lines a vertical in this photo.

A closer crop (at around mid thigh) taken to have enough variety of photos, there can be different uses for different crops and compositions so shooting more than less is always best practice.
Looking back it was quite fortunate to have the black and white striped scarf on this this location without any planning.

Creative Lingerie Model Photography At German Construction Site

The forest-like nature of the location prompted me to take more photos with vertical composition.
When it comes to on location photography props are everywhere; they can tremendously improve the final image and can keep the photographer on his or her toes continually sharpening improvisational skills and the ability to see in general.

The wheel barrel as seen in the first image of this post was such a great find. I definitely did not expect that this day I would ask a Finnish lingerie model to push a wheel barrel for me.
The camera tilt was a must to create diagonal lines which were more appropriate for this composition because the model was portraying movement.

In closing another example how a background can be created where lines dominate the photo. Lines with different angles convey very different moods and visual messages. I really enjoy paying attention to lines / geometry and incorporating them into the composition.
Here the strong, confident pose of the model is being complimented by how structural and geometric the location is.
